Testimonials

Steve has helped over 100 FE Colleges in recent years in their mission to tackle climate change.

Since SS4FE launched in March 2023, it has provided support for the AOC, EAUC, SOS, Jisc, Dudley College, Loreto College, Chapter Zero, East Anglian partnership of five FE Colleges, Barnet and Southgate College, BHASVIC and the Sussex partnership, Weston College, City of Portsmouth College and Net Zero Solutions.

He has been described as an 'expert in his field' and a 'force of nature' by colleagues in the education sector who highly recommend Steve for his clarity, dedication, passion and commitment to help College staff and students create a more sustainable world for future generations.

“Steve introduced sustainability to our college board which led to the first significant and really impactful conversations. He guided us to resources and highlighted issues we hadn’t thought through. A real expert in climate and how colleges can meaningfully respond.”

Stuart Rimmer MBE, Chief Executive at East Coast College

“Steve has been a fantastic champion and supporter of the newly established Colleges West Midlands Sustainable Futures Partnership. This has helped to launch a partnership of nineteen colleges across the West Midlands to work collaboratively to meet our ambitions of becoming net zero, support the professional development of teaching and non-teaching staff and develop student leadership and voice.”

Mel Lenehan, Principal at Fircroft College & Chair of the West Midlands Colleges Green Skills Partnership

“Steve Frampton is a force of nature.

His drive, experience, network and passion for driving sustainability to the heart of Further Education is unmatched.  Unlike most people who simply promote the green transition across a college’s campus and operations, Steve goes straight to the heart of college leadership, governance and teaching to show the business relevance and value of this agenda.

I’ve worked with Steve for a number of years both as an Education Climate Commissioner and a Beacon Award (Sustainability) Assessor, and have nothing but respect and admiration for his energy, agility and tenacity to ensure that every college he has contact with, comes to see the relevance and advantage of its unique and invaluable contribution to the great green transition.”

Iain Patton, UN FHE Advisor and Sustainability Leadership Coach

“Steve has been immensely helpful in providing a workable framework for the sustainability agenda and driving forward collaboration in a way that minimises tensions between partners and builds mutual trust.”

Andrew Wheeler, Executive Director - Curriculum Initiatives at West Suffolk College

"Steve brings a rare combination of experience, passion and energy to his support and championing of the further education and skills sector. He passionately promotes the needs and aspirations of learners and staff across the sector. His most recent work in championing sustainability has bought agencies, providers and key groups together and delivered impactful change. I would have no reservation in wholeheartedly recommending Steve to any College or provider who are looking to further develop their sustainability plans."

Paul Cox, Chief Executive at Eastleigh College

"Steve has been a fabulous advocate for the sustainability agenda in FE, championing the agenda personally with energy and passion. Steve has also made a lot of the things that we must do accessible and has given so many of us the confidence that we can do a lot to realise progress even whilst we might struggle with some of the challenges that this presents. Steve gave his time freely to come to the college and talk with the Governors and Leadership team, all of whom were energised and enthused by Steve. We’ve still got a lot to do but Steve has definitely put us on the right track."

Angela Foulkes, Chief Executive & Principal at The Sheffield College

“Our College recently dedicated our staff conference day to sustainability and wanted to have some external input into this important topic. We were very pleased that Steve was able to open as our keynote speaker for the event which really helped to set the agenda for the day, provide the challenge to staff and also signpost them towards resources they can use. Steve is continuing to support us with the delivery of a student sustainability award to help recognise some of the work we are doing with student groups. We have had great feedback from the event and have really valued Steve’s input.”
